Great value

Whilst I haven't yet gigged or recorded with this, I concur with the previous review on the neck comfort level (it's smooth as silk), and whilst I've never really focussed on weights of basses, this is a very heavy bass (surprising, given that it seems perhaps a touch slimmer in the body than the typical Fender Jazz that it's emulating. The electronics are a little noisy, which is why I dropped one star (could have been just half a star penalty for that, given the price point of the bass, as if I was too worried about it I could always upgrade, but the star system doesn't seem to allow for half stars). But there's a huge amount of tonal capability in the pickups and pre-amp, and the ability to go passive or active is always nice, too. I'm getting some great growl and grunt out of it. This is my first fretless, and I'm dealing with numerous different scale lengths in my basses (including one with fan-frets), so intonation was a challenge at first, but the fretboard binding easily takes a few pencil markings to extend the fretlines. Shouldn't be difficult to remove those training wheels once I'm settled on it. :D

A Great Fretless

The 2nd Gen V7 fretless is worth considering. I find the neck is one of the most comfortable I've ever played and the bass sounds great, both recorded and live. Unlike many alternatives the neck and body are well balanced, however please note it is one of the heavier basses.
