It's really comfortable, light and the neck is the best even for small-ish hands like mine
If you are looking to step up 6-string basses, invest in one of these immediately! Performing live or in the studio recording, playing Blues, Funk, Rock or Metal, the SR506 eats it all up faultlessly! The light ergonomic Mahogany body and slim Jatoba/Bubinga neck makes this one the most comfortable basses I've played, and the extended neck join makes accessing the higher register effortless. The Bartolini pickups, low/mid/high controls and mid-frequency switch allows to set up sound from aggressive & attack-heavy, to rich & smooth all depending on preference/ circumstance. A very minor drawback (from my own experience and others) is the stained finish on the mahogany body can wear through after extended use (typically from finger rubbing off the string and against the body), but I'm personally a fan of the aesthetic. I can't recommend this instrument highly enough!
A few months ago I purchsed one of these Ibanez SR506 basses, I must say they're a great lightweight comfortable bass to play, they don't have a really bulky neck like most 6-string basses which makes these guys more comfortable to play, this is my first 6 string bass and I own a 4-string that costs more than double the price of this bad boy and you know what? the sound quality is just as good! Great bass for anyone thinking of breaking their 6-string virginity like I did. I highly reccomend you give this bass a shot in the shop, make sure you crank it to 11. This bass has beautiful tones from the low B right up to the high C, It has that deep punchy bottom end when you want it and that beautiful sweet high end when you put that High C to good use, This bass will help any 4-string slapper achieve greater skill in no time. You have much more room to move and extend on those scales and the chords.....don't get me started on how much I use them now, thanks to this wonderful bass.
