Squier Classic Vibe ‘60s Mustang

While small in stature, the Classic Vibe ‘60s Mustang® Bass packs a punch of incredible tone courtesy of the Fender-Designed alnico split-coil pickup. Small hands will appreciate the short 30” scale length and slim, comfortable “C”-shaped neck profile with an easy-playing 9.5”-radius fingerboard and narrow-tall frets. This throwback Squier model also features 1960s-inspired headstock markings, rich-looking nickel-plated hardware and a slick vintage-tint gloss neck finish for an old-school vibe

Excellent service

For a low cost instrument my Squire Mustang Bass is a big surprise. The set up was perfect with the intonation spot on. My first gig was in a shearing shed and it sounded amazing. Equal tone and volume across all strings let me play the fret board from bottom to top without loosing either. The only issue I have is that it’s lacking in perceived volume compared to other basses I’ve owned. The volume pot is understandably small and cheap so a change up to a bigger stronger one might help but I’ll probably just get a boost pedal. I had two Fender Mustangs in the seventies (one was a replacement for one stolen) and I don’t know why I moved away from them. Young and silly I suppose. Overall I’d recommend this great little bass to anyone who finds the full scale bass a little hard to master.

A Nice Surprise

I was keen on another bass when heading into Bass Centre, but one of the guys suggested I try the CV Mustang. After 30 mins, I was sold. The playability of the neck is what struck me first, it feels really good in the hands. The short scale makes it easy to navigate the fretboard, and the tone is very punchy and pleasing to my ear. As an added bonus, the surf green finish is very nice, as is the string through body. This is my first bass, and I couldn’t be happier. I’d ignorantly thought in the past that Squier wasn’t worth messing with, but I was wrong: this little beast is well worth the price tag.
