My thoughts on the B5 Element ..... PRE-SALES: I first rang Bass Centre for some technical advice, and was impressed with Shawn, who took the time to give me his obviously-knowledgeable thoughts — one of the advantages of dealing with a bass specialist store, I guess! DELIVERY & UNBOXING: Delivery was just three days from Melbourne to provincial Queensland, and the bass arrived very well packed (literally, cardboard boxes within cardboard boxes). ACCESSORIES: It seems Cort don’t provide any extras (Allen keys, etc.), but I guess that doesn’t really matter if you have plenty of such lying round (which I do). SET-UP: Shawn told me they check out the bass before sending, and that seemed to be true — beautiful low action, intonation spot on, etc. In fact, I literally made no adjustments beyond re-stringing it with a set of flatwound 45-130s (my personal preference on basses)— it comes, of course, with roundwounds. APPEARANCE & FINISH: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say, but it’s hard not to be impressed with the natural wood of my unit (black and red are also options). Build is immaculate — no rough edges or frets, impeccable finish, etc. SOUND & PLAYABILITY: There are good YouTube videos out there covering the sound of the B5 Element, so I needn’t rave on here. Suffice to say the sound range is excellent, that bottom “B” string is impressive, and the variations provided by the B/M/T tone and balance controls (not to mention the Active vs. Passive option) mean that you’ll almost certainly come up with the tone and punch you need. (I’m playing through a Markbass MB58R CMD 102 PURE, and a Fender Rumble Stage 800). In short, a joy to play. OVERALL: I confess to owning too many 5-string basses (five of them at last count, but that’s Gear Acquisition Syndrome for you!), ranging from Fender to Schecter to Yamaha. I’d rank this B5 up there with the best of them, particularly given its mid-range price. In fact, I’d rate it alongside my Fender Player Plus Jazz V, which cost almost twice the price. Thoroughly recommended.
The Cort B5 is great to play. Feels and sounds like a Bass worth way more than the price paid.
I bought this bass for my son as he wanted to try something different to the normal guitar. he is loving the change. Great quality bass and great service from bass centre.
The bass is awesome, even better then I thought it would. Definitely value for money
