I've had this bass for 2 years now & have to say I love it. I'm a pro player & have had many Jazz Basses over the years. This bass interested me because it was faithful to the 60's Jazz basses I have played all my life & I had tested a Pau Ferro fingerboard when my Electric Upright was being made for me & liked the feel of the wood. As with all fretless jazz basses you have to learn to draw the sound out of this bass. But what a sound! Things I really like - simple instrument, passive electronics, looks like a 60's Jazz Bass. Things that I don't like - neck requires removal for truss rod adjustment, Nitro finish wears very quickly. (my right thumb has worn through to the wood - not something I have experienced on any other of my basses) Where as the truss rod adjustment is annoying & the finish is wearing much faster than any of my original fenders did I would not hesitate buying the bass again for it's playability. This Bass will be buried with me!
A beautiful and subtle wooden tone with high notes that almost talk to you. So easy to play in tune, despite being fretless. Very reminiscent of the double bass. Add some palm muting and you're almost there.
